🎉🏫 Announcement: Celebrating Wicksburg Elementary School's Achievement! 🏫🎉

We are thrilled to announce that Wicksburg Elementary School has been selected as an Alabama School of Distinction.  This prestigious award recognizes the outstanding commitment of Wicksburg Elementary in creating an inclusive and supportive environment for all students.

Out of all the schools across Alabama, only 36 schools were honored. Wicksburg Elementary School’s "Wicksburg: A Deaf Inclusive Environment" work stood out for its dedication to ensuring that deaf students feel welcomed, valued, and empowered within the school community. The Wicksburg educators who demonstrated exceptional commitment in exploring strategies and innovations to support our deaf student, as well as all students, included Mrs. Jennifer Adams, interpreter; Mrs. Paige Burtram, 5th grade ELA teacher; Mrs. Taylor Killingsworth, 5th grade Math instructor; Mrs. Jackie Steinmetz, teaching 5th grade Science and Social Studies, Mrs. Kristina Quincey, Special Education teacher, and Mrs. Leigh Elliott, Speech/Language teacher. This achievement is a testament to the hard work, passion, and innovation of all our staff, students, and community.
