SCHOOL CLOSURE (COVID-19)

  • IMPORTANT INFORMATION MARCH 16, 2020

In the interest of public safety, Houston County Schools will close Monday, March 16, 2020 at 3:00 pm Central Time.  All athletic events have been canceled until further notice.  All Houston County Schools will remain closed until Monday April 6, 2020, unless further notified.

Several upcoming events have been canceled or postponed. Each of the items below are considered tentative and subject to change.

    • PROM - Rescheduled to Friday, April 17, 2020.
    • 3rd NINE WEEKS REPORT CARDS - Will be sent home once school resumes.

We encourage all students, parents and stakeholders to remain engaged with their education. Online resources and learning opportunities still exist - even outside of the classroom! Completion of school work that might have been sent home with your student is not required, but we should all be continuous learners. Take this time away from the classroom as an opportunity to  learn new skills and explore your interests. During this time of school closures across the nation, many companies have made their paid online content available to students and parents! A list of this free content is available for you HERE →. Please click this link for a list of websites that offer virtual tours, and help with reading, science & math content!

We encourage all students, parents and stakeholders to take proper precaution to protect themselves and others from the spread of Coronavirus and adhere to the guidelines set forth by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH).

Lastly, we encourage all students, parents and stakeholders to pay close attention to the Wicksburg High School website, Facebook page and local news outlets to remain informed on the latest developments during this time of school closure. Houston County Schools are expected to reopen Monday, April 6, 2020, but this date is tentative and subject to change based on information and directive that may come from State and local leadership.

We deeply appreciate your continued support of Wicksburg High School, and we look forward to a safe and speedy return of our students and faculty!
